Easyspace have been around for along time I first used them well over 15 years ago. In the beginning they were OK. Now they are complete rip off merchants. They take your money without authority, refuse to give refunds and change there prices without notification.
A friend recently renewed his domain registration with them and was charged nearly twice the initial amount.
I used the online “Chat” on their web site and was given this very fluffy response.
[Paul Coles] How much is domain registration for 2 years?
[Philip Morton] HI
[Philip Morton] It would depend on the extension, do you an account with us?
[Paul Coles] .co.uk
[Philip Morton] The payment would start at £9.98+vat
[Philip Morton] Is this something you would like to action?
[Paul Coles] Why have you just charged Robin Moore ( a good friend of mine who doesn’t really understand computers) 17.50 + VAT £21 total
[Philip Morton] The £9.98 is a buy new price, discounted in the 1st 2 years.
[Philip Morton] Renewal prices of domains can vary. Unfortunately, I am unable to discuss another persons account.
[Philip Morton] If you can have the account holder call us directly, we will happily discuss his account.
[Paul Coles] if just added a domain to my online bascket and it doesnt say anywhere that the price is discounted
[Philip Morton] All of the domains when purchased 1st are discount to the lowest price we can sell them at.
[Paul Coles] where does it say that?
[Philip Morton] After that term renewal fees will vary.
[Philip Morton] This is not to say that we cant offer reductions, but we would need the customer to contact us directly.
[Philip Morton] All of our terms on renewals of domains can be found here : https://www.easyspace.com/terms-and-conditions/domains
[Paul Coles] Let me take a quick look
[Philip Morton] What is the domain
[Paul Coles] robin-moore.co.uk (he is a charity walker)
[Philip Morton] Ok I can see he has renewed the domain recently. if Mr Moore has an issue with pricing on his account he will need to contact us himself.
[Paul Coles] Could you tell me where in your terms or anywhere that you state that the amount is initially discounted
[Philip Morton] Our domain names are always cheapest when they are first purchased. And we allow the customer to pick the term of service at that point
[Philip Morton] After that point we issue renewals with the price attached and it is then the customers choice to renew. The customer in this instance has agreed our renewal fees.
[Paul Coles] please could you tell me where the initial discount is mentioned
[Philip Morton] If you look at section 3.1 and 3.6
[Philip Morton] If you wish to discuss this issue further please contact our Customer services dept as this portal is for sales and renewals.
[Paul Coles] there is no 3.1 or 3.6
[Philip Morton] Under our general terms. https://www.easyspace.com/terms-and-conditions/general
[Philip Morton] If you wish to discuss this further you will need to speak to the relevant team, however without you being named on the account they will not be able to discuss.
[Paul Coles] Read the T&C’s still no mention that it is an initial discount
[Philip Morton] All of our services that we sell in the first instance will be offered at buy new.
The service after that point are then subject to price increases.
The operator has ended the chat. Thanks for contacting us.
