Wondering around or local Aldi in Corby I spotted a nice shiny new Ambiano kettle for £20.
Sadly within a couple of months it developed a fault. The Aldi Corby store refused to help because i hadn’t got the the original box or receipt.
I then called Aldi customer services and was again told that because I hadn’t got the original receipt they couldn’t help me. I explained that I shop in Aldi every week and could show my bank statement with all of the transactions.

  • Ambiano products are sold exclusively through ALDI stores so couldn’t have been purchased anywhere else.
  • The manufacture date is on the kettle as January 2017.
  • Warranty is on the kettle as 3 years.

Base of kettle with manufactured date (01/2017) and warranty details (3 years) clearly visible on sticker.

Base removed reveals unattached screw (bottom left) and blackened wire going to terminal marked L

With no warranty and no kettle I investigated the cause of the now nonfuctioning rattling kettle.

I removed the base and found a screw floating around. The home for the screw could be seen and it was placed back. The other screws were tested and found to be loose.  The wire to the terminal marked “L” appears to be burning out.

The kettle now appears to be working but is this kettle safe to use ?

Searching google “faulty kettle causing fire” brings up some interesting facts.
